Stuck in the Middle

When I do shows now, I am mostly headlining or featuring. Its ideal to headline, when possible but sometimes the "feature" slot (the middle, right after the host) is all I can get, since I don't have major TV credits, a huge social media following, or a manager. Comedy clubs will give comedians like me a headline spot on an off night (the hardest night to get people out) and then let us stay to feature for the weekend for a bigger name comedian. The silver lining is sometimes getting new fans from the headliner in cities who don't know who we are from a late night set or a Comedy Central. Some places are hesitant to headline someone like me until we prove ourselves, either by having good sets or filling seats (or both). Its always rewarding to have sold out shows. I had a few sold out shows during the pandemic, mostly due to COVID restrictions making capacity smaller, hence easier to sell out. When the crowd leaves laughing and satisfied, no matter how big, its a win. The next requirement is that they spread the word about the show so that I can return as a headline for the weekend.
