For the most part, people seem to enjoy it mostly, feeling flattered I suppose to be included. I don’t really punch down and whatever I embellish on stage is clearly an embellishment, whether its silly or clearly antithetical to reality. But my jokes are not mean spirited so when its a friend, an ex, or a family member, they are fine being included, although I know my family doesn’t include me in a lot of things now for fear of being part of a gig.
Its one thing, but when its a celebrity, its even crazier. I used to have a show about meeting Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins and I did it at a show, when I knew he would be in the audience. He handled it well but did not remember the incident, clearly because it didn’t happen like I said. I combined the story with another celebrity interaction I had. And ironically, the other person was at a show when I did the joke with HIS name in it. #comedy #standup #celebrity

What Are You Comedy Goals for '26?

https://www.paulfcomedy.com/blog/what-are-you-comedy-goals-for-26

https://www.paulfcomedy.com/blog/what-are-you-comedy-goals-for-26#comments

Uncategorized

Someone asked me this on a podcast recently and I kinda blanked for a second, saying that I was focused on growing my social media. But to expand on that, that goal is part of a larger focus, which is to ensure I have a following that will come to my shows as I travel. I believe with a social media following or a large email list, I can sell out more mores by the end of the year and at least get on the radar of some comedy clubs who have yet to respond to my avails. Thats part of the game, by the way. They ignore you until they need you.

My other goal is to finish writing a new hour of comedy so that I can release another comedy special to tour on. I am about halfway there, but always looking to write new chunks of material or at least re-write old jokes that I have never recorded before.

Finally I want to create new content and projects to showcase my comedy adjacent skills or acting and interviewing. I love interviewing people and learning about everyone's journeys, which is why 90% of the books I read are biographies and memoirs. As part of that desire, I have and have had interview podcasts and shows ranging from dating (Singles Only!), Music (Make Us a Mix Tape), Nightowls (Why Are You Awake), Stand Ups Sit Down (comedians) and now Stuck with Paul, which is where I interview friends, celebrities and comedians in an elevator. I am still gonna do Stand Ups Sit Down at Laugh Factory and Why Are You Awake but I can't wait for you all to see the new episodes of Stuck with Paul. The latest episode dropped yesterday with Comedian Abi Sanchez. Link is below in the comments. Go watch it. Its short, like I look in the video compared to Abi
#standup #elevator #podcast #comedy

Do You Have any Creative Outlets Apart From Standup & Does it Help Comedy?

https://www.paulfcomedy.com/blog/do-you-have-any-creative-outlets-apart-from-standup-does-it-help-comedy

https://www.paulfcomedy.com/blog/do-you-have-any-creative-outlets-apart-from-standup-does-it-help-comedy#comments

Uncategorized

Great question. I used to write music but now all my writing is focused on comedy. My goal was to start playing more guitar, get my callouses back for guitar and MAYBE bring the guitar on stage to do some jokes with it. I used to make up songs on the guitar at parties. Its a skill people love and reward, but honestly its all about rhyming and surprise. Its not a magic trick but people love it.

I also miss playing live with my bands. I used to love writing or collaborating on music with other people and I miss that. I think its good to have other creative outlets and I wish I had more, but that is all I have.

If I can merge the two, obviously, it would help my comedy career. Having another skill set to bring on stage would benefit. A lot of people look down on musical comedy but when its done right, it is amazing. I have an idea of how I can use a guitar on stage, I just need to do it. Recently I did join forces with Comedian Calvin Evans to jam after a show on stage and support his musical closer.
