THANKFUL

11/24/2021

Last week I headlined (and sold out) one of the premiere comedy clubs which was on my bucket list (Zanies Comedy Club). I also got booked to headline a few clubs in January in the Midwest (Laugh Camp and The Drop) to add to the headlining gigs I have at Laugh in Cafe (Ft Myers), House of Comedy (Plano Texas), Mustangs (South Beloit) and Bonkers (UP, Michigan). I am making a list of goals for 2022 which includes doing a set on a late night show, recording my new album and pitching my non-scripted shows. For now, I am very thankful to have comedy in my life and all the support of the people who helped me get here. Hope to see you at my new comedy show Stuck With Paul on Wed December 1st in Chicago! Happy Thanksgiving! #happythanksgiving #careerchange #laughs #fformerlawyer #comedyshow

Pre Show Jitters

11/16/2021

In a few hours, I will headline the legendary Zanies Comedy Club in Chicago for the first time. All month, I was focused on promoting it and making sure it was a sell out. I am close to reaching that goal (less than 20 tickets left as of yesterday) so now I can focus on content and putting on a great show.

Last week I headlined a few amazing venues in Florida to prepare and wrote some new material I plan to use tonight. I am ready. I am excited. I have a great supporting line up with Sarah Perry hosting and Jim Flannigan featuring, two of the best comedians in Chicago (both much better than me) and a staff that will make sure to take care of me and everyone that attends, including manager/comedian Brian Hicks who has helped me over the years with writing and professional advice. Hope to see you tonight!

FULL CIRCLE

11/9/2021

In 2000 , I saw my first stand up comedy show live. I told my friend Tracey Wolfe that I loved Jake Johansen and she found out that he was playing at Zanies Comedy Club. I had grown up memorizing Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice Clay and Chris Rock bits but never went to a live comedy show

Walking into the room, I remember being shocked that this comedian I had just seen on Conan and Letterman was performing in such a small intimate setting. Making everyone die laughing. I remember shaking his hand after the show and being somewhat star struck.

Performing stand up comedy was not on my radar at the time, as I was a musician, music promoter and part time attorney. It’s crazy that twenty years later, I am headlining the same club in less than one week. Check out the promo below that Steven Haas wrote and directed. I hope you can make it next Tuesday. Limited tickets are available. Link in comments. #chicagolawyer #comedyshow #chicagoevents

GIVING BACK

11/1/2021

I am excited to announce that, despite running out of shirts TWICE on the road, I once again raised money for a cause, near and dear to me. Through my "Better Call Paul" shirts, I raised $1,000.00 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in honor of Suicide Awareness month. Thank you for all the people who bought shirts at my shows in Chicago, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Reno, San Francisco and Scottsdale. Special thanks to Ian Flam and NORTHSTAR APPAREL COMPANY for expediting my deliveries and nearly 100 folks who bought shirts in September and October to support the cause. In November I will again raise money and awareness for the Parkinson's Foundation, so if you want a super soft shirt and want to support Parkinsons, hit me up! Hope to see you at the shows in Florida! #charity #suicideprevention #suicideawareness

GOALS

11/1/2021

I don't really have any set long term goals with comedy. As I have said before, I never liked the "what is your 5 year plan" type question, even though that was the first question I asked of musicians when I managed bands in another life. Hosting a talk show of some sort and doing a stand up set on a late night show are definitely on my vision board. For now, I hope to grow stronger as a comedian and writer while continuing to headline more shows and grow my audience. I also want to to continue to sell my shirts for good causes like I did for Parkinson's Foundation, Autism Speaks and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
