Conan

I obsessed over the late night format, even as a kid. My parents let me stay up to watch the Tonight Show monologue and I imagined hosting a show one day, secretly interviewing fake guests in my bedroom. When I found Late Night with Conan O'Brien I was instantly hooked. Conan’s intelligence and quick wit, combined with awkward silliness steadily influenced my own comedy journey. His quote after “leaving” the Tonight show, “if you work hard and are kind, amazing things will happen” became my mantra (and likely a future tattoo) One of my stand up goals was to perform on Conan. Sadly, Thursday marks Conan’s last talk show. While one dream won’t be fulfilled, I hope my own journey continues with the debut of my own talk show, “Stuck with Paul” this Sunday at the new Lincoln Lodge theater (Chicago). The show started during quarantine and I found instant joy in talking to my friends with a captive audience. We have stand up, skits and of course interviews! I hope to see you all there.
