ARE YOU A RISK TAKER?

4/25/2026

Anyone who pursues the arts is taking a huge risk, in my opinion. But the misperception about me is that I am a huge risk taker, since I left a well paying stable career to pursue a career that is neither well paying nor stable. Also, I first went to law school, which is considered the "safe route" and then practiced law for years instead of solely pursing my passion at the time, which was music. I only left law completely to pursue comedy full time in March of 2020 when I had many things solid locked up in my comedy world. I had a dream comedy writing job, I was touring nationally in theaters as an opener and my podcast was accepted into the prestigious SXSW festival. Ironically all of it went away within two weeks because of Covid.

That being said, I still like to take chances with new jokes and decisions but I also believe that my legal training automatically makes me think about results and consequences of all decisions, almost subconsciously and innately. I think I am measured in my decision making process. I try not to let emotions drive my decisions and use logic more often than not. That being said, I will sometimes throw caution into the wind on stage just to have some fun. #comedy #standup #formerlawyer

HAVE YOU EVER SERVED ON A JURY?

(Great non comedy question by the way) Before I was a lawyer, I served. It’s funny because people always contact me, asking how to get OUT of jury duty. I always say “don’t try to get out of it. Do it”. Serving on a jury is a great experience. To begin with, most cases settle so the chances of you actually serving are minimal, if you get called, especially in a bigger city. Secondly, most cases are less than two days and are not criminal cases, but lawsuits. Even so, you will learn more about the law in jury duty than you do watching Law & Order on listening to your murder mystery podcast. And finally, like voting, its your civic duty. We are surrounded with misinformation ever day with social media discussions on the law (and violations thereof by elected officials). Its an experience I highly recommend for anyone.

As for me, it was the summer before I started law school (which I disclosed) and I was convinced I would not be picked because it was a DUI case and I revealed to the prosecution that I had been in a few accidents involving a drunk driver. Needless to say, they picked me and we convicted the guy for DUI. I asked the prosecutor after why they kept me on and they said they trusted me to follow the law, since I wanted to be a lawyer. I was actually the foreman. NBD #standup #law #formerlawyer

Have You Ever Told a Joke About Someone With Them in the Audience?

4/10/2026

ALL THE TIME!

This has happened a few times, yes. For the most part, people seem to enjoy it mostly, feeling flattered I suppose to be included. I don’t really punch down and whatever I embellish on stage is clearly an embellishment, whether its silly or clearly antithetical to reality. But my jokes are not mean spirited so when its a friend, an ex, or a family member, they are fine being included, although I know my family doesn’t include me in a lot of things now for fear of being part of a gig.
Its one thing, but when its a celebrity, its even crazier. I used to have a show about meeting Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins and I did it at a show, when I knew he would be in the audience. He handled it well but did not remember the incident, clearly because it didn’t happen like I said. I combined the story with another celebrity interaction I had. And ironically, the other person was at a show when I did the joke with HIS name in it. #comedy #standup #celebrity

What Are You Comedy Goals for '26?

4/3/2026

Someone asked me this on a podcast recently and I kinda blanked for a second, saying that I was focused on growing my social media. But to expand on that, that goal is part of a larger focus, which is to ensure I have a following that will come to my shows as I travel. I believe with a social media following or a large email list, I can sell out more mores by the end of the year and at least get on the radar of some comedy clubs who have yet to respond to my avails. Thats part of the game, by the way. They ignore you until they need you.

My other goal is to finish writing a new hour of comedy so that I can release another comedy special to tour on. I am about halfway there, but always looking to write new chunks of material or at least re-write old jokes that I have never recorded before.

Finally I want to create new content and projects to showcase my comedy adjacent skills or acting and interviewing. I love interviewing people and learning about everyone's journeys, which is why 90% of the books I read are biographies and memoirs. As part of that desire, I have and have had interview podcasts and shows ranging from dating (Singles Only!), Music (Make Us a Mix Tape), Nightowls (Why Are You Awake), Stand Ups Sit Down (comedians) and now Stuck with Paul, which is where I interview friends, celebrities and comedians in an elevator. I am still gonna do Stand Ups Sit Down at Laugh Factory and Why Are You Awake but I can't wait for you all to see the new episodes of Stuck with Paul. The latest episode dropped yesterday with Comedian Abi Sanchez. Link is below in the comments. Go watch it. Its short, like I look in the video compared to Abi
